Dumortierite ~

Dumortierite is another dark blue companion for sodalite and lapis lazuli, and far less common.  It's a harder stone than sodalite, yet looks softer.  I'm particularly fond of this piece and have worn it a lot.

I don't know what the black flecks are; they may be manganese.  I found one other photograph that shows these black inclusions.  Wikipedia article says that it characteristically has white streaks, but fewer than those found in Sodalite.
