Howlite ~

Howlite is commonly whitish in colour.  Its porous surface is easily dyed and in this way it is commonly used as an imitation of turquoise.  Both have vein-like markings which can make simulation fairly convincing.

The chip beads of this necklace are creamier in colouring:

Category: Howlite is classed as an inoborate, or a borate mineral.
